This white paper examines the security challenges created by hybrid
and multi-cloud environments and presents Check Point Cloud Firewall
as a Service as a unified, prevention-focused response. It organizes the
modern cloud attack surface around three principal entry points: publicfacing applications, enterprise access gateways, and internal east-west
traffic. To protect these areas, the paper proposes a cloud-adapted
hybrid mesh architecture combining contextual network access control,
Zero Trust principles, microsegmentation, AI-assisted threat prevention,
and cloud-native automation. Check Point’s ThreatCloud AI supplies
behavioral analysis, malware detection, phishing protection, intrusion
prevention, and globally distributed threat intelligence, while the Smart-1
platform centralizes policy administration, logging, and monitoring
across cloud and on-premises environments. Native integrations with
AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud enable automatic scaling, tagbased policy assignment, object discovery, and traffic inspection without
requiring customers to maintain firewall software infrastructure. The
paper illustrates these capabilities through public- and private-cloud use
cases, including elastic protection for AWS workloads, inspection within
Azure Virtual WAN, and adaptive security for Nutanix environments. It
concludes that centrally managed, dynamically scaled firewall services
can reduce configuration errors and administrative overhead while
improving policy consistency, visibility, compliance, and threat
prevention across distributed infrastructures.
